About the Course

Step into the world of contemporary millinery and spend a day in the studio creating your own beautifully crafted felt hat.

In this immersive workshop, milliner Rachael Clunie will guide you through the traditional techniques used in bespoke hat making. From shaping felt over a wooden block to hand-finishing with elegant trims, you will learn the foundations of millinery while creating a hat that is entirely your own.

Designed for complete beginners as well as those with a creative background, this workshop offers a rare opportunity to experience the artistry behind luxury headwear in a relaxed and inspiring setting.

What You Will Learn

Throughout the day, you will be introduced to the essential techniques of felt millinery, including:

  • Preparing and working with felt

  • Blocking and shaping over a wooden hat block

  • Using steam to create and refine form * Brim shaping and finishing techniques

  • Creating your own decorative trim

With expert guidance at every stage, you will build confidence in working with traditional materials while developing an understanding of proportion, balance, and design.
